The Gale or Gile family (the two being the same) into which the Edwards of N. H. and of Mass. married were descendants of Bartholemew Gale, who came from England to Boston in the sixteenth century.

The "grandfather's" clock belonging to William Edwards is now (1915) in the possession of his grandson, Alpheus Hazen Johnson of Haverhill, Mass.

In a list of dwelling houses and occupants for Haverhill, Mass., 1798, the name of William Edwards appears as occupant of the house of Samuel Walker. Valuation of house, $200.00 (webmaster's note: this list is online).
