Comments:

Family located: Walden, VT
Occupation: Farmer

Joseph Merrill Edwards, a farmer of Walden, Vt., was not married.

Timothy and his wife moved to Walden, Vt., shortly after their marriage. They made the trip from New Hampshire, probably Gilmanton, on horseback, and immediately upon their arrival began the work of pioneers, building a log house, felling and burning trees in order to prepare the land for tillage purpose. So busy were they during the first two weeks that they found no time to get a supply of food, and in consequence their principal item of diet was the milk of a two-year old heifer. A little later Timothy went on foot to Peachem, Vt., and brought home a basket (bushel) of corn. At about the same time he made a second trip to Peachem for a basket of potatoes, a portion of which he used as seed for a future crop.
He became a prosperous farmer, and in later years marketed a considerable part of his farm products in Boston, Mass.
He was elected "Hogward" in the town of Walden, Vt., 1796.
