In the History of Haverhill, Mass., by BL. Merrick (Pub. 1832) John Edwards is mentioned as a constable residing on Pecker St.

"The town rate for the East Part of Haverhill, a list of that part of the tax made by the assessors of Haverhill, Dec. ye 10, 1741" contains the name of John Edwards.

In a petition dated March 29, 1748 twenty-seven of the free holders and inhabitants of Haverhill declare that they were not present at the annual meeting on account of the great depth of snow but heard of the proceedings and prayed that the petition of Sanders and others be not granted. In the list of signers attached to this petition the name of John Edwards appears as the first signer.

A list of the 3rd. Foot Company in Haverhill, attested by Richard Colby, Cler., Haverhill, Mass., Mar. 17, 1757, contains the name of John Edwards.
