Gorham ME; Columbia Falls ME; Westbrook ME Paul Richmond Edwards enlisted as a Private in Co. A, 5th. Me. Vol. Regt. Inf., May 3, 1861; was mustered into service June 24, 1861; was promoted to rank of Corporal, July 30, 1861; and finally to rank of Sergeant. He served with the Army of the Potomac in every battle, including that of Gettysburg, after which he was detailed as recruiting officer at Portland, Me. He was mustered out July 26, 1864. Member of Warrem Phillips Lodge, No 186, AF&AM of Maine, Cloudman Post, No 100, GAR of Maine. Edward L. Edwards enlisted in U. S. service, May 1, 1904; served with Troop "M", 12th. U. S. Cavalry in the Philipine Islands, Sept. 1, 1904 to Aug. 15, 1905; was transferred to 23rd. Company Coast Artillery, Atlantic Division, Sept. 5, 1906; and was honorably discharged, May 1, 1907, by reason of expiration of term of enlistment.
