One of our men S. A. Edwards shot his finger this last week. the first finger on his right hand. the ball went through the knuckle joint he was out shooting at a target with a pistol and by some means or other he shot himself. some of the  boys think he did it on purpose. I dont know whether twas an accident or not. The Doct are undecided wether twill make a stiff joint or not.

Ernie attributes this incident to Silas Blake Edwards - more likely to be Sewell Augustus Edwards , the only m,ember of Company C with the right initials.
