Tradition is that Samuel S. Edwards, after his marriage at Gilmanton, N. H., located in the central or eastern portion of southern Maine.

Samuel Edwards
Samuel Edwards came here among the early settlers and lived on what is now A B Sherman’s place. His son, David W, a charter member of Liberty Masonic Lodge, was killed in 1865 while attending to his duties as US Deputy Marshal.
